Hiatus Kaiyote is a Melbourne-based neo-soul quartet that features Nai Palm (vocals, guitars) Paul Bender (bass), Perrin Moss (drums) and Simon Mavin (keys). Formed in 2011, the band had their international breakthrough thanks to Nakamarra, song that was nominated for a Grammy in the “Best R&B Performance” category, and that they performed with internationally-known rapper Q-Tip.
The release of their debut album, Tawk Tomahawk, was followed by a worldwide tour and raving reviews from the likes of the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Age and Washington Post, as well as appearances on popular shows such as the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the Arsenio Hall Show.
