The Jazz Minds Art & Cafe presents live jazz music six nights a week, combining a wide jazz repertoire – from traditional jazz to avant-garde and free jazz – with other music genres and the traditions of the beautiful islands.
It’s no secret that Hawaii are among the most popular dream destinations. Every year, incredible landscapes, gorgeous beaches and excellent weather attract thousands of tourists from all over the world. While Hawaii’s beautiful sea and nature are well-known pretty much everywhere, not many known that Hawaii also host some of the most exciting jazz happenings.
Hawaii: sun, relax and jazz
Throughout the year, Hawaii spread their love for jazz with entertaining events like the Red Clay Jazz Festival. Organized in different venues around Kauai in June (25-28), it has served as main stage for several jazz artists from Kauai, the state of Hawaii and from abroad.
Hawaii’s love for jazz is also represented by one of the biggest happenings of the winter in the Pacific Rim: the Pacific Rim Jazz Festival. Bobby Caldwell, Shiela E., Mindi Abair and Keiko Matsui are among the prominent artists who have recently performed at the event.
The rest of the year, the Jazz Minds Art & Cafe is the place to be to enjoy hot jazz gigs. Voted Hawaii’s best jazz venue for 5 years in a row, it is Honolulu’s dedicated jazz club. It presents a thrilling weekly music schedule in a joyful atmosphere. Up and coming artists, local veterans and international guests…everybody is welcome at Jazz Minds!
Every night (except for Sundays) from 9 pm to 2 am, the Jazz Minds Art & Cafe’s doors are open to everyone with a passion for music. Jazz, neo soul, fusion, blues and rock all animate the evenings at the club.
The Remnants, Honolulu-based jazz band led by popular drummer Phil Bennett, are the musical guests of the first and third Thursdays of the month. On the second Wednesday of each month, Jazz Minds hosts gigs by Jazz Clique featuring singer Mihoko M and Joshua Kaye on keys, while the second and last Saturday of the month are all about the Deadbeats, one of Hawaii’s coolest hip hop groups.
In addition to a cutting-edge sound, the Jazz Minds Art & Cafe serves a wide selection of cocktails and pupus that can be enjoyed in a comfortable setting. And for all those seeking late night dining options, Jazz Minds also has a variety of fusion cuisines. The specials include Deep Fried Wings, Black and Blue Ahi, Hot Spicy Pupus Handmade Mandoo, Fresh Ahi Salad, Garlic Steak, and more.
When it’s not hosting live music and servings delicious food, the Jazz Minds Art & Cafe serves as space that can be rented for charity and community events. It’s also possible to get bands, karaoke and food for the special occasion.
