Wales might not be the first name that comes to mind when talking about jazz, but it’s in one of its most well-known cities that takes place one of the UK’s most welcoming jazz events: the Swansea International Jazz Festival.
From 20 to 22 June, Swansea will become the Welsh version of New Orleans and it will present over 50 performances, more than 25 fringe concerts and educational workshops.
With a well-balanced lineup that features some of the finest jazzmen and women of the UK jazz scene – like Jim Mullen, Dick Pearce and Shakatak – as well as young talents such as Tipitina and the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra.
And like top-class event, Swansea Jazz also hosts shows by international stars like Jeff Lorber, Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Eric Marienthal and Jimmy Slip, founder of the pioneering fusion group Yellowjackets.
What else could you ask for?
